@f02@t6 SCENE LYRICS
@f00@t4Issue reviewed - #01
Produced by - Grace
@t6PRESENTATION AND DESIGN@t5
Scene Lyrics, what an original
concept! The look of the magazine
however is quite like most others.
A fairly average intro titles the
magazine, it starts without music
shows a Grace logo and a Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle picture then a
vertical "TV-Credits" style scroll.
The design on the magazine itself it
a little remeniscant of the old
Freedom Crack design, the font is the
same too (I think!). The sceen layout
@^
consists of three sections, the top 20
percent of the screen contains a Scene
Lyrics logo, at the top right and
bottom left of this are two white
arrows, these show the directions the
article you are currently reading can
scroll. If you're in the middle of
an article you will see both arrows,
because you can scroll up to the top
and down to the bottom. If you're at
either top or at the bottom of an
article then you will only see one
arrow. This is because if you're at
the top or the botton there's only one
possible way to go. Hmmm.. Well the
bigest part of the screen is taken up
with the text window. This contains
un-colunmned text screens, and graphic
adverts. Lastly there's the icon
panel. This contains four arrow keys,
that can be controlled either by the
@#@^@t5
keyboard or mouse via the pointer.
The contents page is controled by
mouse-pointer controled selector bar
which makes for quick and easy
selection. A choice of two
soundtracks available and are selected
from the contents page as if they were
articles. @t7 59/100
@t6CONTENT@t5
Well, the content of Scene Lyrics is
something I find difficult to judge.
I can offer my opinion on the design
of a magazine, its bias, opinion, and
so on, but the content of this
magazine not realy my forte. Scene
Lyrics is not a normal scene magazine!
The whole of the magazine is devoted
to one thing... Literature. The
written word, in its most beautiful
@^
form. I can give Grace full marks for
going 'out on a limb' to make a
magazine thats basicly completely
original, but at what expense? How
many people will be interested by a
magazine of this nature? Well, maybe
a lot. There are many 'conventtional'
scene related magazines that each
fight for articles and populariy, but
Scene Lyrics has no competitors in
its field,so who knows?, Maybe it will
gain a bigger readership than the
existing scene magazines. That all
depends if this type of material
interests anyone. Well, as to the
content itself, I'm not going to say
too much. I think for a more qualified
opinion of this type of material you
would be best advised to read
RokDaZone's article called 'About
Literal devices' in the OPINION
@#@^@t5
section of this issue. I personaly
feel that the type of reader that will
actualy read this kind of magazine
will actualy be used to work of a
higher literarty level, hmmm maybe I'm
wrong, who knows. Well, I've not
marked this magazine for content.
Just read and make up your own mind
wether you agree with my words or not.
For a critical opinion of the content
of Scene Lyrics read RokDaZones's
feature. @t7 N/A
@t6OVERALL@t5
Well, overall this magazine didn't
appeal to me at all. This is not a
critical statement, just a reluctance
to offer comment on a genre of
material that I think would be suited
to someone who appreciates its nature
@^
a little more. I personaly think that
Grace are taking a bit of a risk with
this magazine and I honestly hope that
it pays off for them. The trouble is
that people often ignore this kind of
thing. Hmmm.. if it was a porn
magazine, like the defunked "The
Final Extasy" then maybe be the
chances of succsess would be a little
higher, Who knows? @t7 N/A/100
